Well, I’m a few days late with this post but it has been school holidays – give me a drink! Only joking, we’ve had quite a bit of fun, but the time gets away from you really quickly.
We also have a new addition to the family who arrived yesterday in the guise of a new puppy. He has no name as yet, because we can’t agree…………….it’s funny because we’ve had no problem deciding in the past. Anyway, in celebration of our new baby I though we should have champagne cocktails on the blog today.
Let’s start with the classic:-
Champagne Cocktail
1 sugar cube
angostura bitters
chilled champagne
lemon twist
Place the sugar cube in the bottom of a champagne flute and put a few dashes of angostura bitters onto it. Next fill with champagne, stir and garnish with the lemon twist.
For something a little different you could try the:-
Champagne Cooler
3 parts brandy
2 parts triple sec
Champagne
fresh mint
For this cocktail you simple put the brandy and triple sec in a red wine glass top up with Champagne and stir. Garnish it with a sprig of fresh mint to serve.
Then there’s the delicious:
Black Velvet
½ pint Champagne
½ pint Stout
Make sure both ingredients are chilled and pour them both into a highball glass at the same time. Do not stir.
Typing in the recipe for Black Velvet took me back to the 80s and I just had to share Alannah Myles hit with you. Watching the video is annoying because I am just too busy watching the bad lip synching instead of concentrating on the song which I think is a great hit.
